What are explosion vents?

An explosion vent is a safety device designed to rupture at a predetermined pressure. This allows the energy from an explosion to be safely released without causing structural damage to the installation.

Explosion vents are also referred to as relief panels or explosion panels. They are available in various designs, such as flat or domed panels, with or without insulation. Each design is optimised for specific conditions and industrial applications.

Explosion venting
